Árni
DJ | PRODUCER
Vinyl Only
Árni is an Icelandic DJ and founder of NIX, based in Berlin. Having started DJing in Reykjavík as a teenager, his roots stretch through drum & bass, dubstep and UK club music before eventually settling into techno. This background still comes through in his ear for bass, rhythm and unusual sound design.
A longtime record collector, Árni’s sets are built entirely from vinyl, with an approach shaped by selection, technical precision and an instinct for the unexpected. His sets move through stripped-back, driving techno with a playful streak: heavy grooves, odd textures, unexpected rhythmic turns and records with plenty of personality.
That same sensibility runs through NIX, the label he founded in 2021. Its catalogue brings together established and emerging artists including Chlär, Benjamin Damage, Nathan Alexander, Toobris and others, connected less by a fixed genre than by a shared interest in character, sound design and club music that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
While primarily a DJ and curator, Árni also produces as one half of Á&H alongside Hermigervill, with several of their collaborative tracks released through NIX.
Across the label and his DJ sets, the philosophy is much the same: take the music seriously, leave some room for mischief.
